“Safe Together” explores issues concerned with safe sex practices and advancements in preventive HIV medication, Pre-Exposure ProPhylaxis (PrEP). Formally, “Safe Together” is inspired by the art and activism that ignited public conversation and political consideration about the AIDS epidemic in the United States during the 1980s and 90s. While information about HIV is more accessible than it was, there is still widespread ignorance about how the virus is transmitted. A side table designed to hold condoms and PrEP, “Safe Together” works to create a domestic dialogue about AIDS and its afterlife.
