The Balance of Time explores the passing of time through subtle and ever-evolving shifts in climate. A section of oak is pinned to an aluminum bar forming a beam that is delicately balanced on an integrated fulcrum located at its center of mass. The section of oak, though technically dead, continues to breathe as it perpetually takes in and releases water from the air, maintaining equilibrium with annual shifts of wet and dry seasons. This eternal act alters the density of the wood, shifting the balance, and signaling the passage of time.
