In ancient times, the sun, stars, and moon guided our existence. Tales of divine beings and cosmic judgement terrified and amazed us as we laid underneath starry nights. Different cultures interpreted the flow of celestial bodies as it related to our earthly domain and created technology that would help us understand our place in the universe. As these technologies evolved, civilization no longer looked to the sky in search of answers–we began to base our lives around copies of these bright lights up above. Through blue smart phone screens and city lights, we are no longer ruled by cosmic forces but by the eternal ticking of clocks and calendars. Though we have lost ancient ways of reading and interpreting the stars, we look up all the same. This lounging seat directs one towards the sky–a gesture to the forgotten practice of stargazing.
